My Air Conditioner is “Running Too Much?”

Check if all exterior doors and windows are closed and sealed properly.

My Air Conditioner is “Not Running?”

Check your fuses or circuit breakers. Let the unit cool down for about five minutes before resetting any breakers.

My Unit is “Blowing Cold?”

Your unit is not blowing cold. Your unit may be low on freon, either it was undercharged during installation or it leaks. If it leaks, simply adding refrigerant is not a solution. A trained technician should fix any leak, test the repair, vacuum the system and then charge the system with the correct amount of refrigerant. Performance and efficiency of your air conditioner are optimal when the refrigerant charge exactly matches the manufacturer’s specs, and is neither undercharged nor overcharged. Refrigerant leaks can also be harmful to the environment.

When Should I Change Filters?

Change the filters on a monthly basis. As your filter gets dirtier, it slows down the air flow, requiring your air conditioner or heater to work harder, therefore less efficient. Also, keep your filter grill clean and unobstructed by furniture, pictures and more, so not to restrict the air flow to the system. If you allow filters to become too dirty, the system will work harder and the compressor or fans are likely to fail prematurely.

There is Water or Flooding Around My Air Handler?

This most frequently happens when it’s humid outside. Check the drain to make sure it isn’t clogged and is draining properly.

Steps You can Try First, if Your Unit has “Iced up.”

A dirty filter, dirty coil, low on freon or a broken blower motor is often the cause of your unit icing up. A few steps you may want to troubleshoot before calling a technician are:
  • Pull the filter; if the filter is dirty, get a new one.
  • Turn the thermostat to off position and the fan to on position.
  • Let it run for few hours, this will assist in defrosting the unit.
  • After the unit is completely thawed, turn the fan switch to auto and replace the filter.
  • Turn the system back on to cool and check if it is working well.
  • If it’s not, it’s time for you to call a qualified technician.

About Faulty Installation, Poor Service Procedures and / or Inadequate Maintenance of your Appliances

Faulty installation, poor service products and inadequate maintenance can result in leaky ducts and low airflow. It happens more often then you realize. Often, the amount of freon in the system is incorrect. Improper freon charging causes poor performance and inefficiency of your unit.

Unqualified techs often fail to charge properly and also, fail to find freon charging problems or even worsen existing problems by adding too much refrigerant to your already full system. That's why you must trust your reliable source and contact Mountain Air and Heat LLC.

"Installed new propane furnace.
Mike and his assistant installed a new high efficiency propane furnace in our 4' crawlspace on one of the coldest days of the year. They arrived on time, worked quickly and efficiently. They also repaired a heat duct that had broken away from its brackets and even lit our new water heater before leaving. We are very happy with the level of service they provided as well as the quality of the furnace."
